Jules Thompson was born in Hackney, London in 1961. Won two National children's competitions aged 11 and 13 years old. Sold portraits of people, horses and pets as a teenager. As a child of East London docklands, I was surrounded by the gipsy traveller community and multi-cultural society. A punk rocker by 17 and eventually after running a successful book business dropped out of society by 1986. Since then I have lived a nomadic lifestyle immersed in alternative cultures which have hugely influenced my art throughout my life. I had a daughter in Ireland where I supplied 3 galleries, one of which was a miniature gallery, all in West Cork painting local people, horses and everyday scenarios. I moved to Wales in 1994 continuing similar work, murals and gardening before moving to Portugal and living off-grid for 10 years. Art has been a constant throughout my life, exploring watercolours, acrylics, oils and now pastels. My art is of a realistic style with vibrant colours, sometimes humour, always capturing the natural beauty of the recipient. I work from my own photographs and memory. Please don't hesitate to contact me if interested in my work or a commission you would like.
